Off the Bike

No jackets or ties! You’re on vacation, so the most you’ll need would be slacks and a collared shirt for dinner and/or the golf course. Speaking of golf, don’t forget your shoes. No need to pack the clubs though, unless you like. We have clubs available for you.

Something to keep in mind while packing … The weather in the Carolina Mountains can vary. While the average low in the fall is in the mid-40s to 50s and the average high is in the mid- to upper-60s, we have been known over the last ten years to have lows in the upper-20s and highs in the low-80s.

What’s included in my package?

Pretty much everything! All rides and planned meals, inclusive of alcohol, as well as ground transportation — when you’re not pedaling, SAG vehicle and mechanic, lodging and optional activities on the mid-week recovery day.

What airport should I fly in to? Will I need a rental car?

Flights into Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) will offer the most hassle free experience. Ground transportation will be provided from and to GSP.

For those liking to fly into Charlotte, NC (a 2 hour drive) or Atlanta, GA (a three hour drive), airport pickup will not be available.

How’s the weather?

The weather in the Carolina Mountains can vary, naturally. While the average low is in the mid-40s and the average high is in the mid-to-upper-60s, we have been known over the last ten years to have lows in the upper-20s and highs in the low-80s.

We understand that sometimes plans change.  We will have an updated cancellation policy set in place before the next ride.  Stay tuned!

All refunds will be issued by check, regardless of initial payment method.

What activities are available on the mid-week recovery day? Will I need any equipment?

Wednesday is a restful day at the lakeside community of The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards.

Golf – bring your clubs or leave them behind. We have complimentary clubs available for your use. Just indicate your needs on your registration form. If you forget to pack your golf shoes, gloves or balls we have a fully equipped golf shop with items available for purchase.

Kayaking – We won’t make you bring your own kayak but you might like to bring a swimsuit or even wetsuit unless you enjoy cool mountain lakes with water temps in the 70’s.

Hiking – bring your hiking boots or shoes. Hiking trails are abundant and a knowledgeable guide will accompany those liking to enjoy.

Recovery Ride – if you don’t want to take a day off from the bike, The Cliffs’ Cycling Coach Richard Dunn will coordinate a less intensive ride for this mid-week change of pace.

Massage – you only need the ability to relax. The Cliffs’ massage therapists offer services at the on-site wellness center or in your lakeside cottage.
